Limited Driving Privileges

After a driver’s license suspension, a driver may apply for a restricted license which gives him or her limited driving privileges. Orange County DUI Convictions and Limited Driving Privileges

For a first Orange County DUI conviction, your license may be restricted for 120 days. After the first 30 days of the suspension have passed, you may apply for limited driving privileges. In order to qualify for a restricted license, you must provide your local DMV office with the following:

• Payment for re-issuance fee
• Proof of enrollment in DUI school
• Proof of insurance (SR-22 form – filed by your insurance company to prove that you have auto insurance liability coverage)

For a second Orange County DUI conviction, your license may be suspended for a minimum term of 2 years. Only after 1 year has passed can you apply for a restricted license, and the qualification requirements are harder to meet. In addition to the above mentioned requirements for a first Orange County DIU conviction, you will need to show proof of enrollment in an 18 month DUI program, having completed the majority of the program.
